Advancing the Objective Diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder
The 2nd Edition International Conference on Addiction Medicine, Mental Health and Psychiatry (ICAMP 2027) will feature an insightful presentation by Professor Rustem Frunzevich Baikeev, Professor at Kazan State Medical University, Russian Federation.
🎤 Featured Presentation
Presenter: Professor Rustem Frunzevich Baikeev
Affiliation: Kazan State Medical University, Russian Federation
Presentation Title: Statistics of clinical signs of major depressive disorder and prospects for its objective (instrumental) diagnosis
🔬 Presentation Highlights
∙ Global Burden: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide, affecting millions of people globally.
∙ Clinical Complexity: The presentation examines the wide range of clinical manifestations associated with depressive disorders and the challenges involved in identifying consistent diagnostic signs.
∙ Key Observation: No single clinical sign was identified in 100% of clinical observations, while disturbed sleep and low mood appeared frequently among the analyzed patient groups.
∙ Diagnostic Challenge: Current depression diagnosis primarily relies on clinical assessment and verbal interaction with patients, with no established objective laboratory or instrumental test routinely available.
∙ Medical Record Analysis: The study analyzed inpatient medical records from the Republican Clinical Psychiatric Hospital of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan covering the period from 2000 to 2022.
∙ Future of Diagnosis: The findings highlight the need for advanced objective diagnostic technologies, including positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with high-resolution spectroscopy.
